Starting to write things down
Why I started this blog, and who I'm really writing it for.
I learn something worth keeping almost every week, and then I lose it. A fix for a problem in the yard. A lesson from a hard conversation at work. A better way to think about money. It lands, I use it once, and six months later it’s gone.
So I’m putting it all in one place.
That’s the practical reason. Here’s the real one.
This is for my wife and kids
Someday my kids are going to run into a lot of the same things I’ve run into. Not exactly the same, but close enough. I’d rather they have a record of what I actually learned than have to guess at it, or wait around for me to remember to bring it up at the right moment.
My wife is the person I think most of this through with in the first place. A lot of what lands here started as a conversation with her, so it’s as much hers as it is mine.
I’m not writing this expecting any of them to agree with all of it. I hope they read through it, take the parts that are useful, and leave the rest. That’s how it should work. What matters to me is that it’s here when they want it.
And if any of it helps someone else along the way, even better.
What goes here
Honestly, whatever I learn:
- Tech and the things I’m building
- Work and leadership
- Lawn and home projects
- Family and relationships
- Money and finance
- Random things I don’t want to forget
There’s no real end to that list. If I learned it and thought it was worth keeping, it goes here.
